ASIST

What is ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)?

1
ASIST
ASIST is a two-day intensive, interactive and practice-dominated course designed to help caregivers recognize suicide risk and learn what to say and do to prevent the immediate risk of suicide.  The workshop, designed by LivingWorks Education, Inc. is for all gatekeepers (any person in a position to help others at risk of suicide).  This includes professionals, paraprofessionals and laypeople.

An Evidence-Based Practice

ASIST has been reviewed and approved for inclusion on the State of Oregon's Addictions and Mental Health Services' List of Evidence Based Practices. It can help satisfy Oregon Administrative Rules for organizations receiving state funds for, or through, the Oregon Department of Corrections, Oregon Youth Authority, Department of Human Services' Addictions and Mental Health Services, Criminal Justice Commission, and Commission on Children and Families.

And a Best Practice

ASIST is also recognized Best Practice listed with the SPRC/AFSP Best Practices Registry for Suicide Prevention (BPR).
