ASIST is a two-day intensive, interactive and practice-dominated course designed to help caregivers recognize suicide risk and learn what to say and do to prevent the immediate risk of suicide. The workshop, designed by Living Works Education, Inc. _is for all gatekeepers (any person in a position to help others at risk of suicide). This includes professionals, paraprofessionals and laypeople.
An Evidence-Based Practice. ASIST has been reviewed and approved for inclusion on the State of Oregon's Addictions and Mental Health Services' List of Evidence Based Practices. It can help satisfy Oregon Administrative Rules for organizations receiving state funds for, or through, the Oregon Department of Corrections, Oregon Youth Authority, Department of Human Services' Addictions and Mental Health Services, Criminal Justice Commission, and Commission on Children and Families. And a Best Practice. ASIST is also recognized Best Practice listed with the SPRC/AFSP Best Practices Registry for Suicide Prevention (BPR). |
